7. Chapter 19.2 Fossil fuels- are any fuels formed from the remains of ancient plant and animal life Nonrenewable resources- any resources that are used faster than they can be replaced. Estimated that gas will run out in 2045, oil 2055, coal 2295. Coal Oil Gasoline Natural gas

8. Renewable resources- any resources that can be continually replaced. Sun Wind Water Geothermal

9. Alternative Energy Sources Solar Windmills Water in Dams Nuclear Energy Geothermal energy- the energy drawn from heated water within Earth’s crust.

10. Chapter 19.3 Notes Pollution- the contamination of the air, water, or soil (land). Global warming- an increase in earth’s temperature due to an increase in greenhouse gases Eutrophication- an increase in the amount of nutrients, such as nitrates, in the environment

11. Recycling- the process of breaking down discarded material for reuse in other products
