Campus Parking By: Stephanie Labas & Jimmy Wright
2
Rowan's Parking System Parking permits required Residents lots: Triad, Mansion Park, Edgewood Park, Chestnut lot, Parking garage, B, and D. Overnight parking is allowed. Commuter lots: A, C, D, M-1, R, and Y. Monday-Friday commuters can use employee lots H, Z-1 and P, between 4:30pm-12:00 midnight. Overnight parking is not allowed. (2am-6am)
4
The Problem Location: Commuter lots are located at one end of campus. If a student must reach the opposite side of campus there is no parking for them. Time: Commuters are not allowed to park in their designated lots between 2am and 6am. This make is impossible for commuters to stay on campus over night if they don't have an off campus place to park their car. Safety: The parking lots have no lighting which becomes a safety hazard for students. The time restraint also becomes a safety hazard for those individuals who need to drive or move their cars because they need to stay between 2am and 6am.
5
What do other colleges do? Seton Hall: Parking permits required. Parking lots are not designated for certain people but certain spaces are. No parking 2am-6am Rutgers Camden: Parking permits required. Parking lots are designated for certain people. Time restraints are placed on certain parking lots.
6
What do other colleges do? Rider: Parking permits required. Spaces color coordinated with parking permits. No time restraints. Saint Joseph's: Parking permits required. Parking is on a first come, first serve basis. No time restraints.

Dangers!! According to duilaws.com, over 32 million people admit that they have fallen asleep at the wheel in the past year. About 2 million say that they have had an accident because they fell asleep. In college life you are bound to come across parties. Like some of the commuters we took surveys from, students find the need to stay on campus because of parties. If commuters attend a party, consume alcoholic beverages, and then need to move their cars because they can't park on campus between the hours of 2am-6am they will be putting themselves and others in danger. http://www.youtube.com/watch#!v=AkQ3n393__4&feature=related

Solution At least one commuter lot should be an overnight lot, which would allow commuters to park in this lot any time day or night. This would reduce the dangers that students face due to parking situations. Commuter lots should be more scattered across campus and not all placed on the same side of campus farthest away from campus buildings. Street lights should be placed in all parking lots so individuals do not have to walk in the dark to get to their cars. This will reduce the risk of attacks and dangerous situations in the parking lots at night.
