Born: February 1818 (exact date uncertain) When he was born he became a slave, because his parents were slaves. He married Anna on September 15,1838. He had five kids named Rosetta, Lewis Henry, Frederick Jr, Charles Redmond, and Annie.

Anna and Frederick lived in New Bedford,Massachusetts,which was a free black community. Douglass wrote and published an autobiography, T he narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, an American slave, in 1845. Later, he produced more abolitionist newspapers: The North Star, Frederick Douglass Weekly, Frederick Douglass’ Paper, Douglass’ Monthly and New National Era. He created the Columbian Orator which clarified and defined his views on human rights.

Fredrick Douglass interest was so great that in any week, there where more then 40 slaves that would attend a lessons. Although freeland did not interfere with the lessons, other local slave owners were less understanding.

Fredrick Douglass died on February 20, 1895. Douglass attended a meeting at the National Council of Women in Washington, D.C. Shortly after returning home, Frederick Douglass died of a massive heart attack or stroke.
