Example - Martin Luther King, Jr. Inspiration and the Civil Rights Movement Timeline of historically relevant events (1) Dr. King joins a movement called “ the bus boycott ” following the arrest of Rosa Parks on December 1, 1955. On December 5, 1955 he was elected president of the Montgomery Improvement Association. He became a spokesperson for the Montgomery bus boycott. November 13, 1956, bus segregation was deemed unconstitutional by The Supreme Court.
