SHOULD Should is an auxiliary verb, a modal auxiliary verb. You can use it to: give advice or make recommendations talk about obligation talk about probability and expectation Structure of “Should” Positive Form Subject + should + main verb + complement Negative Form Subject + should not (shouldn´t) + main verb Question Form Question Word + should + subject + main verb + complement? Should + subject + main verb + complement?

You shouldn´t smoke. (an advice) You should see this new movie. It´s great! (advice) I should be at work before 8:00. (obligation) You should eat better. More fruits and vegetables. That´s health! (recommendation) Susan should be in New York by next week. Her new job starts on Monday. (expectation)
