3. IMAGINE THE IMPACT If 200 riders across Auckland each got just one new Rider to register, we could raise at least $500,000 for ground breaking cancer research and care! Every dollar raised by Riders directly impacts the lives of those battling cancer, their families and those yet to be diagnosed. 5. RECRUIT NEW TEAM MEMBERS! Gear Up Day is the perfect opportunity to Recruit New Team Members! Having others to lean on, and having others count on you, will push you to get up a little earlier in the morning, or head out in the cold or heat to ride those extra kilometres. Plus, it makes The Ride that much more fun to be doing it with a group of friends, as committed to conquering cancer as you are. 7. GEAR UP AT WORK: Make a visible statement at your desk or in your office, with a poster, flyer and registration forms. Set up a table in a high traffic area with posters, flyers and registration forms. Hold an orientation or lunch and learn. Talk about why you are riding and inspire others to register. Promote the Gear Up Day in the company newsletter or intranet site? Can you send emails to co-workers? Can you post flyers around the office? Can you take over an area of the lunchroom to hold your meeting? Get your team to host a training ride at lunchtime or after-work: This works well if you already have a team and want to encourage others to join your team. ONE DAY. ONE GOAL. REGISTER. 8. GET THE WORD OUT Start the Buzz EARLY - Send out emails or evites a few weeks before your event. Promote from Within - Hang posters and flyers in high traffic areas around the office. Include mentions on message boards, the company newsletter or intranet site. Be sure to include all of the pertinent where, when, and why information. Final Notice - A day or 2 before your event send a final reminder email and pass out flyers. ONE DAY. ONE GOAL. REGISTER. RECUIT A RIDER.

9. WILL YOU GEAR UP? Write three names of people you can ask to Register before Gear Up Day – personal and professional contacts. Set a time and date to ask them on or before Gear Up Day. 10. ABOUT THE RIDE 2 DAYS. 200+ KILOMETRES. 1 EPIC RIDE. Your cycling adventure begins as you gather for an inspiring Opening Ceremony, where we’ll remember those we’ve lost to cancer and honour the survivors who are with us today. After this emotional send-off, you’ll ride out of Auckland with a renewed sense of purpose. Every 25-30 km along the route, you’ll find fully stocked Pit Stops with all the snacks and hydration you’ll need to keep going. ONE DAY. ONE GOAL. REGISTER. RECUIT A RIDER.

YOUR DOLLARS AT WORK Your participation will support ground-breaking cancer research funded by the Cancer Society at the Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre (ACSRC), based in the University of Auckland. The ACSRC is one of the world’s most productive academic cancer drug development groups, having to date brought 12 new drugs to clinical trials in NZ and around the world.
