Do Now Check: Read the following statement:
Your family goes hiking up Bear Mountain. On your way up the mountain you stop and pick up 3 rocks. You tell your family that they are all metamorphic rocks based on the layers and stripping that they show. Thumbs up you agree Thumbs down you disagree

Metamorphic Rock When any type of rock (sedimentary, metamorphic, igneous) undergoes METAMORPHISM (subjected to heat and pressure) forms a metamorphic rock.

Two types of metamorphism Contact and Regional
(heat) Magma/lava will hit into the rock, causing it to change into a metamorphic rock Regional (pressure) Layers of rock on top cause pressure to build up metamorphism
