2. Summary  The book starts in letter format with a man named Robert Walton. Robert Walton is the captain of a ship that ends up getting stuck in the North Pole. He rescues a man named Victor Frankenstein. This man starts telling Walton about his life story and how he created the monster.  Victor created a monster out of human body parts. When it was brought to life he abandoned it because of how ugly it was.  When the monster was abandoned by Victor he had to learn how to survive on his own. The monster found a hovel to live in and observed a family called the De Lacey’s that lived near by. He learnt the language they spoke. As well he was an invisible helping hand.When he reveled himself he got rejected.  He went to find Victor in order to ask him to make him a female companion. But while on the way kills his first victim, William.Which is Victor’s younger brother.  The monster has convinced Victor to make another one like him. But half way though, he destroys his work and breaks his promise to the monster.  The monster saw Victor destroy his female companion and vows revenge. Starting with, killing Victor’s best friend Henry.  On Victors wedding night, the monster shows up and kills his wife Elizabeth. Victor is now alone with everybody he loved dead. Victor devotes the rest of his life to killing the monster. He travels all over,chasing the monster and that’s how he ended up in the North Pole on Walton's ship.  After telling his story, Victor dies. Shortly after the monster shows up and is crying over Victors dead body. He tells Walton that he regrets all the horrible things he has done. He also says that he is ready for death because he has nothing else to live for. The monster leaves and is not seen again and Walton's ship is unstuck and is ending his journey.

3. Relationship with Victor Sees Victor like a parental figure  He's the one who created me.  Constructed me from nothing.  I just want his acceptance of me, just like any child.  Rejection/ abandonment.  His fault for who I became. The De Laceys  I never hurt them, I just wanted to be friends.  Seemed like good people.  I was still rejected no matter what I did. Revenge  Revenge on mankind for the way I was treated.  Revenge on Victor for abandoning me.  Only emotion me and Victor feel towards each other.

4. Allusions  Like Adam, I was apparently united by no link to any other being in existence; but his state was far different from mine in every other respect. He had come forth from the hands of God a perfect creature, happy and prosperous, guarded by the especial care of his Creator; he was allowed to converse with and acquire knowledge from beings of a superior nature, but I was wretched, helpless, and alone. Many times I considered Satan as the fitter emblem of my condition, for often, like him, when I viewed the bliss of my protectors, the bitter gall of envy rose within me. (15.7)

5. Adam Vs. Satan  The monster can be compared to Adam and Satan in different ways.  He's both good and evil in the things he does.  Refers his creation to Adams creation. Which would make Victor god like. Because god had made life out of nothing like Victor had.  Monster quotes he's like Adam because he has "no link to any other being in existence." No one is like him, and he is the first of his kind.  But unlike Adam, he is alone, without a Creator to protect him and no companion like Adam had Eve.  Similar to what happened to Adam when he ate the forbidden fruit, Victor dissociated himself from the monster. Having nothing to do with him, just like god did with Adam and Eve.  The monster is like Satan because he was created good, but is tainted by evil, and turns against his creator. The monster is full of envy, wretched, and completely an outcast.

6. Major Theme: Revenge  Revenge is a very strong human emotion.  A connection between Victor and the monster.  Revenge is wanted by both for the horrible things they have done for eachother.  The monster only does the things he does because of what Victor did to him.  Victors fault.  Only if he had made the monster happy he wouldnt  The monster is hurt and wants Victor to feel that way.  Revenge goes to far that in the end it really wasn’t worth it.

7. Abondonment/Rejection  The monster is the way he is because he was abandoned by his creator.  Victors fault. Created a monster only to leave it alone in the world.  Rejected and abandoned when he did nothing wrong.  Abondment from the De Laceys.  Rejected no matter what.  Lonely and miserable. Has nobody, and blamed Victor for it.  Wants Victor to feel what he feels by killing the ones he loves.  If the monster wasn’t treated the way he was, wouldn’t have become a monster.  Turned bad because of the way he was treated.

8. Recommendation  If you want to know the real story about me, the monster and not just the brief story that everybody knows. I recommend reading Frankenstein By Mary Shelley.  This book would appeal to readers who like to read gothic novels, because lets face it there's a lot of Make up your death in this book.  Different point of view  Know my reasons behind why I did the things I did.  Make up your own mind about weither I’m the real monster here or not.
