Inhaling & Exhaling Exhaling = When the diaphragm relaxes, the cavity inside your body gets smaller and your muscles squeeze your ribcage and your lungs begin to collapse as the air is pushed up and out of your body in an exhale, which reduces the air pressure in your lungs.
