Reading Results Performance in Milwaukee is far below that of most TUDAs Data are consistent with results seen on state tests Data helped build a case for a single textbook adoption in reading for all but the few highest performing schools with low student mobility Data supported development of a comprehensive literacy plan for the district

Math Results Despite 5 years of intensive mathematics work with teachers, performance is among the lowest of all TUDAs Attainment on state tests has been slowly improving, but status relative to national standards is far too low Will develop comprehensive math plan to address students’ knowledge and skills as well as staff Will consider reducing textbook to single adoption

12. What’s Next? Additional examination of exclusion rates Improved communication within the district about the assessment Continued use of data both for both internal and external discussions-urgency and consistency! Will serve as a benchmark of progress over time – 2011 test will be second round as a TUDA but very early in new work around improving reading and math instruction
