3 The 6 Kingdoms of Life Plantia Animalia Protistia Fungi Archaebacteria Eubacteria

4 Plantia Kingdom Organisms (plants) that produce food through a process called photosynthesis Absorb Carbon Dioxide and release Oxygen for people to breathe Produce covering and food for living organisms Plantia Kingdom is broken up in 12 different phylums

5 Animalia Kingdom  This Kingdom is the most and least familiar to us  Over 1,000,000 species are classified in this kingdom  Animals are separated into 33 different phylums (phyla)  The Arthropod phylum would probably be well over 10 million species if scientists could identify every one in the rain forests ChordataAnnelidaEchinoderm

6 Fungi Kingdom  Simple organisms having animal and plant like characteristics  They are not producers (able to create own food)  Decomposers- feed on remains of dead organisms  40,000 different species of Fungi Molds and MildewToadstools Mushrooms

7 Protistia Kingdom  Set up to categorize all organisms that did not fit into any other kingdoms  Organisms are unicellular and multicellular  Made up of 60,000 different organisms  Not bacteria  Includes algae and slime molds

8 Archaebacteria Archaebacteria are found in extreme environments such as hot boiling water and thermal vents under conditions with no oxygen or highly acid environments.hot boiling water unicellular (one cell) organisms E. Coli Sulfolobus Cyanobacteria

9 Eubacteria complex and single celled. Most bacteria are in the this kingdom. classified in their own kingdom because their chemical makeup is different. Most eubacteria are helpful. Some produce vitamins and foods like yogurt. Others make you sick, such as Streptococci (strep throat) E. Coli Streptococci (strep throat)
