3 Who are these institutions? These institutions, among the Top 25 institutions awarding baccalaureate & doctoral degrees in the social, behavioral and economic (SBE) sciences to underrepresented minorities, will share effective practices in the following areas:

7 CUNY-MAA Planned Joint Activities-Retention Academic Support Mentors and tutors Summer research internships. A listserv by individual discipline and enrolled minority SBE students Conferences in Michigan & New York Financial Support Through research grants for students to work at campuses in the alliance. Social Support Explore options for chat room

8 CUNY-MAA Planned Joint Activities -Career Development Postdoctoral Explore postdoctoral opportunities across the alliance Early Career Training Tap into Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program –funded by NSF Professorial Develop Preparing Future Faculty workshops for SBEs.

9 Networking at the National Level SBE’s online newsletter with postings on recruitment fairs, professional workshops, and grants similar to the Minority Scientists Network Newsletter. SBE’s Annual Conference providing opportunities for recruitment, oral and poster presentations, panels, noteworthy speakers and professional workshops on, e.g. Conflict Resolution, Negotiating Departmental Politics, Road to Tenure, Selecting an Advisor, Writing Proposals for Competitive Grants.
