6. What is a Nerve? O Nerves are the body’s major cables and contain hundreds of neuron fibers. O The fibers run to every nook and cranny of the body.

7. What is a Neuron? O The nervous system is made up of cells called neurons. O They have spindly fibers that carry electrical signals. O Some neurons (nerve cells) are several feet long!

9. Reflexes O When you touch something hot or cold your body sends signals to the brain to tell the body how to react. O Process: O Cells in hand detected heat. O Nerves send message to spinal cord. O Spinal cord decides what to do. O Nerves from spinal cord tell the hand what to do. O Message is to let go of the object.
