6 Conclusion In the discussion of collision detection, the report demonstrated that innovations are being made in sensory technology, allowing cars to not only detect objects but identify them and act upon this recognition. In the examination of parking assistance technology and vehicle automation, it was explained how these systems work using sensors. And the conclusion that integration of these technologies would make roads a safer place to travel was drawn. Finally, in the last section on evaluating AI assisted controls, the report examined how the previously mentioned technologies were being combined in order to make truly exemplary cars in terms of safety and “intelligence”. The difference between human and software processing speeds was investigated, and how this difference may be capitalized upon in order to make the safest cars possible was discussed. Lastly, a suggestion that enabling the AI to detect weather conditions would further increase its value to the driver was made. In conclusion, AI technology is available in many forms which serve several purposes within the automotive industry. Each of these manifestations of AI was created with the intention of creating a safe environment for the driver and his or her surroundings, as well as with the intent of making travelling from place to place an easier and more pleasant experience. This is a significant selling point that innovative car manufacturers such as you may emphasize in order to gain the interest and loyalty of potential customers.

8 Glossary LIDAR (Light Detection And Ranging): A mixture of radar and laser technology, which measures scattered light to find range or other information on a distant target through the use of laser pulses. You will often see police officers using lidar equipment to track vehicle’s speed. GFLOP: A unit for measuring calculations per second, 1 GFLOP being equal to 1 billion calculations per second. GHz: Measurement of speed in cycles per second, in this case applied to measure the speed of a computer’s processor. 1 GHz is equal to 1 billion cycles per second.
