3.  A major epidemic of Diphtheria broke out in Alaska  What is Diphtheria? This was a serious bacterial infection usually affecting mucous membranes in your nose and throat. 5.  Dogs were the first animals to become domesticated. The relationship between dogs and their owners benefits both parties. People love and care for their dogs. In return, dogs provide affection, loyalty, and companionship. When there is danger, however, the roles can change.
