2 Objectives Students will identify verbs in the future.
Students will form the future of regular verbs.

3 Warm-up Which sentence tells about an action in the past? Which sentence tells about an action that is going to happen? Lightning flashed across the sky. I will sleep under the covers tonight.

4 Lesson Clouds cover the sun.
You know that verbs can tell about action in the present or in the past. A verb that tells about an action that is going to happen is in the future time. Use the helping verb will to show future time. Present Clouds cover the sun. Rain fills the birdbath. Past Clouds covered the sun. Rain filled the birdbath. Future Clouds will cover the sun. Rain will fill the birdbath.
