Participants will be able to independently use their learning to… Consider and utilize brain-based learning theory, research-based instructional strategies, and gradual release in the development of lesson plans. Consider the use of body language, pacing, voice modulation and enthusiasm for topic/content to increase student engagement. Essential Questions How does effective lesson planning impact the delivery of a lesson and the students’ ability to learn? How does brain-based research theory impact student learning? What types of non-verbal instructional techniques can I utilize to positively impact student learning? How can I demonstrate enthusiasm for my content area or topic? Enduring Understandings Effective lesson plans consist of key elements. Effective lesson planning impacts the ability of students to actively engage and learn. Brain-based learning theory, and the teacher’s use of non-verbal instructional techniques and engagement strategies will have an impact on lesson delivery for student learning. Expressing enthusiasm for their topic/content will have a positive impact on lesson delivery and, therefore, student learning. OUTCOMES
