4 Utilities Power – Basilan's electricity needs are served by the Basilan Electric Cooperative, powered by three diesel-powered electricity generating plants located at Brgy. Binuangan, Isabela City, one National Power Corporation diesel-powered barge located at Brgy. Tabuk, Isabela City, and two mini-hydroelectric plants located in Kumalarang, Isabela City and Balagtasan, Lamitan City. – Basilan Straight is proposed to be the site for Tidal stream generators draw energy from sea currents in much the same way as wind turbines. – The island of Omosmarata in Tuburan (now Mohammad Ajul) is listed among only 15 sites in the Philippines with commercially viable ocean thermal energy potential. The Philippines' ocean thermal resource area is 1000 square kilometers, based on the archipelagic nature of the country.

5 Utilities Water – Basilan is served by three local water utilities: Isabela City Water District, Lamitan City Water District, and Maluso Water District. Only 17,693 households, however, have full access to safe and potable water. Natural Gas – Presence of Natural Gas has led to the awarding of the cadastral projects to 14 surveying companies by the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) to determine who owns the resources Waste – Mostly comes from Agri Business possible source of organic waste and biomass for energy source

8 Industries Manufacturing – Rubber thru the Agrarian Reform Community – Coconut is another major produce Fisheries – The Sulu and Celebes Seas provide fish such as tuna, mackerel, and sardines. Most of these are processed in canning factories in nearby Zamboanga City, General Santos City (the Philippines' tuna capital), and Navotas. The island’s waters also produce grouper, squid, octopus, and marlin, while fishponds supply milkfish, prawn and shrimp. In addition, seaweed is cultivated along some coastal areas. 12 Telecommunications Capabilities of national communications systems. – Telephone service through Provincial Telephone System is available only in Isabela City and Lamitan. Cellular phone services from Smart/Sun and Globe Companies are also available in most parts of the province. Location of critical communications facilities. – Cellsites are established in the two Cities of Isabela and Lamitan, and the municipalities of Maluso, Sumisip, Tipo- Tipo, Lantawan and Tuburan. Foreign support to internal telecommunications. – IDD is thru the public telco. VSAT capability can be serviced by AzComm, IPStar and KoreaSat, MabuhaySat is no longer operational
