Identification of our needs Justification of our needs Action to meet those needs
2
Healthy Families, Nursing and the Government ! Material needs Remuneration = payment for service > reasonable living standard > Child-care > Maternal mental health > Delivering Quality care, > Serving Communities: Nurses Leading Primary Health Care.
3
Needs Justification based on Perspectives God’s plan and purpose Family responsibilities to ensure a safe, healthy happy home and family Government responsibility to execute justice with truth and mercy to every person.
4
Nursing Focus - Do we really consider what God’s plan For the health services of the nation is through Nursing? For each Nurse in the different facets of the health services? For each Nurse and her family as a unique entity within society?
5
Justification - Negative Not by man’s righteousness “For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God.” So what hope is there for Nurses?
6
Justification - Positive Available for every Nurse Grace Righteousness Faith
7
Justification requires both critical thinking and faith “Christ is the end of the law to everyone who believes… Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame… There is no distinction between… The same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.” Romans 10:1-14
8
Fruits of Justification Arise From personal and professional accountability “What ever your hands do in word or deed, do all in the name of the LORD Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.” So What?
9
Justification through wisdom No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape that you may be able to bear it’. 1 Corinthians 10:13
10
Action to meet needs Our attitude to work! God’s attitude to our work We were created for good works We are constantly being prepared We are equipped
11
Therefore Nurses are encouraged …Walk worthy of the profession to which we are called… …Be diligent to present yourself … …a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth…. …For all our works will be brought into judgment….
12
If Nurses choose not to heed The family suffers The children develop negative work norms Society becomes a proverbial ‘rat race’ Nurses are discouraged, disillusioned, and caught in an endless cycle The fear > pain > tension syndrome is a reality in her family life
13
Reconciliation Time of reflection – alone or with other Nurses to pray: For God’s perspective in relation to each perceived need A deeper understanding to aid critical thinking and justification to meet genuine need Insight and foresight to overcome limited vision Faith and grace in making right decisions and to deal wisely with those involved in each conflict situation Emotional and mental strength to stand for truth and justice to ensure the Nurses ministry of reconciliation meets God’s standards and man’s need.

I will hold the Christ-light for you In the night time of your fear. I will hold my hand out to you; Speak the peace you long to hear. I will weep when you are weeping. When you laugh, I'll laugh with you. I will share your joy and sorrow Till we've seen this journey through. THE SERVANT SONG 2

When we sing to God in heaven, We shall find such harmony Born of all we've known together Of Christ's love and agony. Brother, let me be your servant. Let me be as Christ to you. Pray that I might have the grace To let you be my servant, too THE SERVANT SONG 3
