2 GROUP INFLUENCES ON BEHAVIOUR THE PEER GROUP Peer=anyone who has one or more characteristics or roles in common with one or more other individuals (eg. age, sex) Friendship=a positive relationship between two (or more) people who usually regard or treat each other in similar ways

3 GROUP INFLUENCES ON BEHAVIOUR TYPICAL FEATURES OF AN ADOLESCENT PEER GROUP Often has its own ‘norms’ or accepted standards of behaviour Often has its own style of dress Often has its own places for socialising Often has its own tastes in fashion, music etc. Usually has its own special attitudes Often has its own language or list of expressions Discuss their problems with each others but not outsiders
