1 . Summery of Akita City Center position. The capital of Akita Prefecture 30% of total population of Akita Prefecture 905.67km 2 1602 Yoshinobu Satake, Lord of Hitachi, was relegated to Akita by the Tokugawa shogun family 1604 The Senshu Park, located in the city center now, used to be a castle of Lord Satake family 1889 Foundation as a city 1997 The City of Akita became a core city Sake (seven brewer), rice, hot pot cooked, silver wired jewelry Akita Kanto Festival is held from 3 to 6, August. This is the one of the four biggest summer festivals in Tohoku (northeastern) area. Every year, it is expected to have 1.1 million people come and watch the performances of lanterns like big ears of rice.
