2 Click on instructor tools Surveys are a good tool for gathering and compiling data to use for class or other projects. To get started on creating…

3 Click on “Survey”.

4 Click “Add New Survey”

5 This is my survey! Choose your desired settings. It’s recommended that participation is limited to UAS students so that a person can’t take the survey more than once.

6 This is my survey! Make sure you add a title to the survey, or else it will be unable to save.

7 Now that you’ve saved your survey, the “Question Bank” links appear. Click on either one to create and edit questions.

8 There are three question types: Interval, Nominal/Ordinal and Text Only. Both Interval and Nominal/Ordinal questions have their answers populated into a bar graph to show the difference in responses. In addition to that, Interval questions also display the average of the responses given. Text questions don’t populate into any type of comparison because the answers are all user input.

9 When you’ve decided on what type of question you want, click “Add Question”.

10 Interval Question Types Put your question into the text editor and choose values for participants to answer with. For instance, with the interval set to 5, the highest value participants will be able to answer with would be 5. 20 is the highest interval you can use. Nominal/Ordinal To use this for a nominal survey, you input a question and relevant answers for users to choose from, such as, “What’s your favorite color?”. For ordinal questions, ask a question such as “How do you feel about the quality of content delivered in this course?” for which you’d input responses of poor/fair/good/great, etc. Checking the “Allow free format comments” box allows participants to leave a comment after the questions on the survey page.

11 Text Only Question Types All that needs to be done for text only is to type in a question. Participants respond by typing their answers into a text field.

12 Once back in the question bank, you can add more questions or change the order of the ones that you already have. If you’re done with your questions, click “Survey Library”.

13 Within the survey library you can post your survey

14 After posting your survey, you can choose what date it will become available, or when to remove it.

15 Going back to the homesite, you‘ll see the newly posted survey.

17 When you’re done collecting answers, there’s several ways to post the results for everyone to view. You can go through the instructor tools, and under assignments click on survey. Under the survey you wish to show the result for, click on “Post Results”.

18 The other way is to hover over the title of the survey and click “Post Results”.
