2. Most of you are not currently sexually active, but it is still important that you understand how to protect yourself from unintended pregnancy. That way, you’ll be prepared later. Today, we’re going to compare several birth control methods.

3. When a person is ready to decide on a birth control method he or she will want to ask these questions: How effective is this method? Is it easy to get? Is it easy to use? How much will it cost? Will it help protect from HIV and other STD as well as pregnancy? Will it be embarrassing to use? Can partners use it together? Can a person use it alone if the partner won’t help? Does the method fit with religious and moral beliefs?

4. Presentations Groups of 4 Each group will be assigned a birth control method reading sheet. With your group, you will make posters to present to the class TODAY.

5. Presentation Guidelines Your poster and presentation need to include the following information: – Method – Who uses it (man or woman) – How it is used – Effectiveness – Advantages – Disadvantages – Prescription or over-the-counter

6. People may have different reasons for preferring one type of birth control over another. For best results, people should choose a method they like. That way, they will be more likely to use it correctly every time—and that’s the best way to prevent a pregnancy. Even really effective methods won’t work if people don’t use them correctly all the time.
