DPC 2007-2009 High-resolution multi-disciplinary monitoring of active fault test-site areas in Italy S5S5S5S5 Roma 24/03/ 2010 activitiesOPEN ISSUES - Observations and requests Task/RUWP 2/32.1 OBS deployments Data integration Test of acoustic link (?) The second deployment were delayed by problems with sensors( now in the second deployment we adopt another sensor type); this was an important test for the development of the Italian OBS! Will we do the acoustic link test before the end of May? The second OBS recovery is planned for October 2010 2/32.2 Integrated data archive Refined locations The integration of temporary stations and permanent networks in a continuous SEED archive is an extraordinarily important goal of this project ( it opens data to all the University and global scientific community. The analysis of the data was delayed by the occurrence of the L’Aquila earthquake, refined locations will be done after the project closing. 2/32.3 Automatic code to evaluate seismic anisotropy Analysis of local crustal events The code (Anisomat) is ready was tested in comparison to manual analysis and 2 different automatic codes ( Spy from INGV-OV; and Sheba from Bristol university). Selection parameter on the wave forms are really important for the reliability of the results! It will be applied to a selected subcrustal dataset, for the crustal data we wait for the refined locations 2/32.4 Velocity and Strain fields of the area. Modelling of the 1908 source The fields were computed and published. The Messina strait region is undergoing extension. The extension is not concentrated across the strait. The new data collected are available (where?). All the old campaigns will be available to the scientific community? The modelling suggests that the are not enough constrains to define the source of 1908 ( the DISS box or a fault west dipping in Calabria have similar fits). 2/42.5 Hypocentral locations and Focal Mechanisms Map of stress tensor orientation. The CAP technique is appropriate for FM computation down to M 2.5! The integration of the INGV data is a little late but we are doing it. Stress tensor was computed and will be redone with new data
