6 NUI, Galway Art Collection represents Painting, Drawing, Print and Sculpture throughout the Twentieth Century including work by Walter Osbourne, Mainie Jellett, Norah McGuinness, Nano Reid, Charles Lambe and Paul Henry. NUI, Galway is committed to raising the profile of this collection and has done so by publishing a beautiful book, Imaging Ireland, featuring thirty colour plates.

7 Acquisitions NUI, Galway purchases contemporary works annually and plans to bring Visual Art into every building on campus. Recent acquisitions include; Inislacken by Rosie McGurren, Orbsen Building and BogPig by Dermot Seymour, Library.

13 Highlighting NUI, Galway’s Resources Zoology Corridor – Artist Dominique Mayer worked with Professor Wallace Arthur, Anne Quinn and Barry Dawson to rediscover and highlight the artefacts in the Zoology Corridor. This has led to an artistic refurbishment of the corridor. Library – Open submission of Shoebox Art, entitled Shoebox Show. Staff and students were invited to submit to this show which created a sense of community.

14 For Staff – Drawing classes with Robin Jones in the Art Gallery. Drama classes with Cups and Crowns Theatre Company.

15 Ideas : what do you think? Annual Bursary available for Staff up to €500 in order to facilitate a personal or Departmental Artistic Project. €5000 out of the Acquisitions Budget to be allocated to all Departments towards the purchase of Artwork. A member of the Partnership Committee to sit on the Arts and Theatre Committee

22 Key Objectives Increase Staff involvement in the Arts on Campus. Provide a forum for exchange of ideas. Provide relaxing, entertaining occasions for staff to connect and enjoy contemporary artists, performers and musicians. Receive feedback and ideas on programming of the Arts on campus.
