A little history… Candle lanterns were carved from turnips to commemorate the souls of purgatory This was considered a “souling” practice This practice later adapted into the making of jack-o- lanterns In traditional Celtic traditions turnips were carved with faces and put in windows to ward off evil spirits In America, pumpkins are readily available and easier to carve because of their large size

Trick-Or-Treating In the United States children go door to door stuffing their pillow cases full of candy. After Trick or treating it is customary to go home and check to make sure none of the candy is open and that it is all safe to eat.

Apple Orchards \ Fall is the season of Apple Harvest. In the fall it common to visit Apple Orchards with your family. At the Apple Orchard you pick your own apples.

Scarecrows Scarecrows are common devices used to scare birds away from food crops and are decorative on Halloween and autumn months
