What is an autonomous vehicle? Also known as a driverless car Computer controlled The system must be able to control the sensor, navigation, motion planning.
3
Con ’ t 2005-Standford University engineers designed a robot car Invented this car because automobiles are unsafe.
4
Challenges Amount of space needed Costly Problems with sensors, control system Getting people to trust the cars that are made
5
Simulation & Modeling 3D Modeling Solidworks 2006 Simulation Dynamical & Static Simulation COSMOS Advantages
6
Solid Works A computer program that allows you to create 3D models virtually. Easy to use and is convenient
7
COSMOS Simulation What COSMOS could do: Shell Analysis Assemblies & Contact Linear Static Frequency Buckling Thermal Fatigue Drop Test FEA Translators Motion Simulation Nonlinear Dynamics Electromagnetics
8
Goals/Problem Problem: To use solid works to create a 3D model and to test the way it moves. Goals: To use solid works and Cosmos software to estimate the virtual results with the reality.
9
Methodology Learning 3D modeling software -- Solidworks Learning Simulation software – COSMOS Build Model of the Autonomous Vehicle in Design & Manufacturing Institute of Stevens Institute of Technology Simulate the model with COSMOS Compare or estimate the results between virtual simulation and reality
