3 MOTIVATION AMATROL Automation System 870-A1(Distribution) 870-A2(Testing) 870-A3(Process) 870-A4(Storage)

4 INTRODUCTION Modular Automation Training System is a PLC based unit. It consists of four modules Distribution, Testing/Measurement, Process, and Storage. Research Material History of PLCs PLC operation/software Pneumatic controls and schematics

5 PROBLEM STATEMENT The Modular Automation Training System is not operating correctly. The pneumatic portion of the unit is malfunctioning. Also the robotic controller is not responding. Pneumatic ControlsRobotic Controller

6 PROPOSED SOLUTION Steps taken to solve the problem: Check for open circuits Replace old PLCs Change pneumatic lines Reprogramming RsLogix Software Lubrication of mechanical parts Testing & troubleshooting pneumatic/electrical Verifying operation of the unit Repair stuck pneumatic valves

7 RESULTS Pneumatic functions improved Mechnical operation is efficient Overall operation is enhanced Electrical components function correctly

16 CONCLUSIONS Overall the unit functionality is improved. Many control valves and mechanical parts were seized. The PLCs were replaced for better performance. The capstone class illustrated by following certain procedures a project can be completed by steps from beginning to the finish. Also, it is a perfect example of a project that maybe completed in the workplace.
