LITERACY We the staff of EAGLE RIDGE P.S. commit to… Facilitating higher order, creative thinking skills and cooperative learning structures through collaborative inquiry, to prepare students for managing future challenges and changes. Facilitating an uninterrupted Comprehensive Literacy Block (100-120 minutes) in all classrooms with an emphasis on guided groups/practice By December 13, 2013, Primary, Junior and Intermediate target students will advance one level in Reading Achievement from diagnostic to summative, based on Observational Surveys, Running Records, and CASI like questions. 78% of participating primary students and 73% of participating junior students will achieve provincial standard in reading as measured by the 2013-2014 EQAO 90% of primary students and 80% of junior students will achieve provincial standard in writing as measured by the 2013-2014 EQAO By June 2014, 75% of participating grade 7 & 8 students will achieve level 3 on CASI in the focused areas of summarizing and inferencing

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN NUMERACY We the staff of EAGLE RIDGE P.S. commit to… Focus on using technology in numeracy and to teach collaborative inquiry through 3 part lessons using evidenced based strategies, open and parallel tasks in whole class and small group settings to enrich student learning. By June 2014, 68% of participating grade 3 students and 67% of participating grade 6 students will achieve the Provincial Standard, as reported by the 2012-2013 EQAO results. For every Co –teaching Math Pathway of Learning Unit, target students will move one level from diagnostic to summative. Students will be able to connect real life to math by incorporating technology in instruction and through Three-Part Lessons.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN SAFE AND SECURE AT SCHOOL We the staff of EAGLE RIDGE P.S. commit to… Ensuring all students and staff feel safe, emotionally and physically. Model and teach anti-bullying, anti-homophobic and anti-racist strategies by integrating practices into educational programming and interactions both in and outside the classroom. Immediately deal with bullying that happens on Eagle Ridge P.S. School property, at school related activities, on school busses or in any other circumstance (e.g. online) where engaging in bullying or in behavior and/or language that is homophobic or racist in nature will have a negative impact on the school climate and most importantly an individual’s well-being. By June 2014, Eagle Ridge Public School will administer school climate surveys to access SMART goals and develop initiatives related to Mental, emotional and physical well-being for staff, students and their families. By June 2014, Eagle Ridge Public school will have begun and will be continuing to provide training on an ongoing basis in Mental Health Literacy, Mental Health First Aid, and the use of the Mental Health Toolkit. By June 2014, 50% of staff will have the opportunity to participate in professional learning on evidence- based safe and accepting schools initiatives addressing bullying, cyber-safety and cyber-bullying prevention. By June 2014, 100% of staff will be trained and provided with the opportunity to participate in training related to violence incident interventions as well as work place health and safety.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN CULTURE, CARING AND COMMUNITY We the staff of EAGLE RIDGE P.S. commit to... · building an equitable, inclusive and engaging environment that is conducive to student achievement. · Welcoming students, parents and community members, as respected, valued partners · Model and teach anti-bullying strategies by integrating practices into educational programming and interactions both in and outside the classroom. By June 2014, 100% of Eagle Ridge P.S. students will have the opportunity to be engaged in, and participate in, learning opportunities that foster a commitment to equitable outcomes and evidenced based strategies. By June 2014 65% of total staff will be trained in restorative practices and Tribes TLC. By June 2014, 65% of parents and community members will be involved and engaged in activities and events both inside and outside of the classroom.

SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT PLAN PATHWAYS We the staff of EAGLE RIDGE P.S. commit to… Providing high quality learning while giving student opportunities to improve their prospects for success in school and in life. By June 2014, 75% of Primary, 83% of Junior, 85% of Intermediate students will achieve a level of Good or Excellent in self-regulation as measured by learning skills compiled in report cards. By June 2014, Every student 7 and 8 will have an Individual Pathway Plan (IPP) to successfully transition from grade 8 to grade 9 along the destination pathway of their choice.
