In Pursuit of Khushoo` The Prophet ﷺ said, صَلُّوا كَمَا رَأَيْتُمُونِـي أُصَلِّي “Pray as you have seen me praying.” We may not have the ability to check the daleel (evidences) ourselves and so we follow a scholar in their explanation of how to pray. We need to ensure that our intention whilst praying, is to follow the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ regarding the way that he prayed. There may be some different opinions regarding the actions of the salaah so do not reprimand others for following a different opinion based on the opinion of another scholar. The Physical Salaah Du`aa Al-Istiftaah ( دعاء الاستفتاح ) The du`aa al-istiftaah is what is said after the opening takbeer, to begin the salaah. There are several of them. We will do one today. Please be conscious since, you are addressing Allaah directly in this du`aa. سُبْحَانَكَ اللّهُـمَّ وَبِحَمْـدِكَ وَتَبارَكَ اسْمُـكَ وَتَعـَالَى جَـدُّكَ وَلَا إِلهَ غَيْرُكَ. How perfect You are O Allaah, and praise belongs to You. And Blessed be Your Name, and Most High/Lofty is Your Greatness and none has the right to be worshipped other than You. تَبارَكَتَعـالىجَـدُّ Blessed Most High /Lofty Greatness

The Physical Salaah The Final Tashahhud Du`aa (1) These du`aa are all from the sunan. Without them the salaah is still complete. The Prophet ﷺ advised us to see protection from 4 things in the final tashahhud. اللّهُـمَّ إِنِّـي أَعـُوذُ بِكَ مِـنْ عَذَابِ الْقَـبْرِ، وَمِـنْ عَذَابِ جَهَـنَّم، وَمِـنْ فِتْـنَةِ الْمَحْـيَا وَالْمَمَـاتِ، وَمِـنْ شَـرِّ فِتْـنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ O Allaah, I take refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, from the torment of Jahannam (the Fire), from the trials and tribulations of life and death and from the evil affliction of Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjaal. عَذَابِ القَـبْر فِتْـنَةِ punishmentgravetrial الْمَحْـيَا وَالْمَمَـاتِ lifedeath

Solaah 101 – 9 8 Learn Arabic to Understand Quraan – for Allaah! الْمَسِيحُ الدَّجَّالُ - Al-Maseeh Ad-Dajjaal (The False Messiah) He is a human being and not the T.V. and other things as some people claim. He is from among the major signs of the Hour and the greatest trials to befall mankind, which every prophet has warned about. Most of mankind will follow him (even Muslims). He will appear from Asbahan, Iran… He will be given special powers and will make the truth seem false and vice versa. From his features is that he will be blind in his right eye which is a definite proof that contradicts his claim to be Allaah as it is a sign of imperfection. The word ‘ka-fa-ra’ ( كفر ) will be written between his eyes which every believer, literate or illiterate will recognize. The Physical Salaah

The Physical Salaah The Final Tashahhud Du`aa (2) One of the best places to make du`aa in the final tashahhud. Another du`aa said in tashahhud is: اللّهُـمَّ إِنِّـي ظَلَـمْتُ نَفْسِـي ظُلْمـاً كَثـيراً، وَلَا يَغْـفِرُ الذُّنُـوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، فَاغْـفِر لِي مَغْـفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْـدِكَ وَارْحَمْـنِي، إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَـفُورُ الرَّحِـيم O Allaah, indeed I have oppressed my soul excessively and none can forgive sins except You, so forgive me a forgiveness from Yourself and have mercy upon me. Surely, You are The Most-Forgiving, The Most-Merciful.’ From Yourself: i.e. from Your innermost grace without me deserving it and a forgiveness which is befitting to your tremendous generosity. ظَلَـمَ غَفَرَ - يَغْـفِرُ الذُّنُـوبَ to oppressto forgivesins ارْحَمْـنِي الغَـفُورُ Have mercy on meThe All-Forgiving مَغْـفِرَةً forgiveness

Seeking refuge in Allaah from Shaitaan 6. Basmallah 7. Saying Aameen after the recitation of Al-Faatihah; aloud in the loud prayer and silent in the silent prayer.

11. ۸- قِرَاءَةُ سُوْرَةٍ بَعْدَ الْفَاتِحَةِ فِي الرَّكَعَتَيْنِ الْأَوَّلَيِيْن، أَوْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ من القرآن؛ لحديث أبي قتادة - متفق عليه ۹- اَلْجَهْرُ بِالقراءةِ فِي الصلاةِ الْجَهْرِيَّةِ؛لحديث جبير بن مطعم -متفق عليه؛ ولِغَيْرِهِ مِنَ الأَحَادِيْثِ -- جَاءَتِ الْأَخْبَارُ الْكَثِيْرَةِ بِالْجَهْرَةُ فِي صَلاةِ الْفَجْر والْعِشَاءِ والْمَغْرِب، انظر: صحيح البخاري Learn Arabic to Understand Quraan... for Allaah! Reciting of a soorah after Al-Faatihah in the first two Raka`ah, or what is easy (to read) from the Quraan. 9. Reading aloud in the solaah for which loud reading is recommended – many narrations indicate that loud recitation was done in Fajr, Al- `Eshaa and Al-Maghrib.

Solaah 101 – 9 12 Learn Arabic to Understand Quraan – for Allaah! سنن الصلاة ١۰- اَلْإِسْرَارُ في الصَّلاةِ السِّرية؛ لحديث خباب - وأنهم كَانُوا يَعْرِفُون قراءةَ النَّبيِّ في صلاة الظهرِ والعصر، بِاضْطِرَابِ لحيتِهِ - البخاري، كتاب الأذان، باب القراءة في العصر ١١- اَلسَّكْتَةُ الْلَطِيفةُ بعدَ الفَرَاغِ مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ كُلِّهَا؛ لحديث الحسن عن سمرة -أبو داود ١۲- وَضْعُ الْيًدَيْنِ مُفَرِّجَتَيِ الأَصَابِع عَلى الرُّكْبَتَيْن كَأَنَّهُ قَابِضٌ عَلَيْهِمَا؛ لحديث أبي حُميد الساعدي – البخاري بِاضْطِرَابِ Shake, quiver اَلسَّكْتَةُ الْلَطِيفةُ A slight pause الفَرَا غِ finish مفرج ة Spread apart الركبة قَابِضٌ knee Grasp / seize / grip 10. Silent recital for the silent solaah (the sahabas used to know the recitation of the Prophet `alaiy his salaam by the movement of his beard. 11. A slight pause after the complete recitation (before going to rukoo`) 12. Placing the hands with the fingers spaced out upon the knees as if one is grabbing it.

Solaah 101 – 9 13 Learn Arabic to Understand Quraan – for Allaah! سنن الصلاة ١۳- مَدُّ الظَّهْرِ فِي الرُّكُوْعِ حَتّى لَوْ صَبَّ عَلَيْهِ الْمَاءَ لَاسْتَقَرَّ، وَجَعَلَ الرَّأْسَ حِيَالَ الظَّهْرِ؛ لحديث رفاعة بن رافع -أبو داود؛ ولحديث وابصة بن معبد - ابن ماجه. ١٤- مُجَافَاة ُالْيَدَيْنِ عَنِ الْجَنْبَيْنِ فِي الرُّكُوْعِ؛لحديث أبي حميد الساعدي-. أبو داود صب pour استقرحيالمجافاةالجنب settle side Alienate/ (keep away) In line with 13. Spreading the back during Rykoo` so much so that if one were to pour water on it, it would settle – and making the head in line with the back 14. Keep hands away from the sides during Rukoo`.
