HISTORY Scandinavian design emerged in the 1950s in the countries of Northern Europe: Denmark, Sweden and Norway. Design is described as : very minimalist but highly functional Scandinavian design is often referred to as democratic design It was aimed to appeal to the masses Products are accessible and affordable.

MAIN FEATURES Simplicity – simple in shape and colour Minimalism- minimum of ornaments and components Functionality - easily functional, durable in function Aesthetic – fulfilling art qualities The Scandinavian style is famous for: form-bent wood furniture in various shades of white and nature- inspired patterns

JACOBSEN´S CHAIRS/ Oxford OXFORD CHAIR /1963/ The original Oxford Chair was designed for the professors at St. Catherine's College in Oxford Made of leather or fabric. ideal for meeting rooms or small desk spaces or even dining rooms.

JACOBSEN´S CHAIRS / The egg THE EGG CHAIR was inspired by the shape of an egg. the Egg Chair is made out of a strong foam inner shell under the upholstery The unique shape is to give the feeling of a privacy. The egg chair first appeared in the reception areas of the Royal Hotel, in Copenhagen.

OTHER FORMS OF SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN Scandinavian design has been perhaps most widely recognized in furniture. Other fields, such as graphic design, followed these principles. Splashes of colour have been a big part of Nordic interiors for a long time as well.
