BT30 Instructions for use Biological indicator for Dry Heat sterilization
2
TUBE B TUBE A
3
Identify TUBE A writing the sterilizer Nº, load Nº and processing date on the indicator label.
4
Pack the biological indicator along with the material for sterilization.
5
Do not sterilize TUBE B.
6
Sterilize as usual.
7
Once the sterilization process has finished, verify that IB label color has changed to brown. Let the IB cool down.
8
Break TUBE B ampoule with the crusher in BIONOVA® IC10/20 incubator or with an ampoule crusher.
9
Remove and discard the cap of TUBE B under sterile environment or laminar flow. STERILITY conditions
10
Remove the cap of TUBE A and discard the tube. STERILITY conditions
11
Put TUBE A cap inside TUBE B in such a way that the spores paper carrier gets in contact with the culture medium. IMPORTANT! Make sure the carrier does not get in contact with the exterior side of the tube or any other surface. STERILITY conditions
12
Close the cap tightly. STERILITY conditions
13
Place the processed IB in the incubator. IMPORTANT! Use a non-sterilized biological indicator as a positive control each time a processed indicator is incubated.
14
Incubate at 37±2 ºC for 48 hs. maximum.
15
If after incubation the color of the growth indicator medium has not changed, the result is NEGATIVE, thus, the sterilization process is EFFICIENT.
16
If after incubation the color of the growth indicator medium has changed to yellow, the result is POSITIVE, thus, the sterilization process HAS FAILED.
17
Record the results and discard the tube immediately according to your country's healthcare and safety regulations.
