1. Bio Principles Lifeline 2013 PRESENTATIONS

2. Presentation Project With your assigned group members, you will be creating a 4 minute presentation on your topic. Your presentation will be given as a group to the rest of the class on the week of 3/11/13 (the week after spring break). Your presence is mandatory! There will be no make-ups! Presentations must be uploaded onto the “presentations” link under “social activities” on the moodle website by 5:00 PM on Friday, March 1, 2013 (2 weeks before due date) to be approved by your lifeline leader.

3. Approval is necessary to allow us to ensure that your file will open properly on the lifeline computers (if your presentation is not being made on a computer, a file does not need to be uploaded, however you must still post your topic and method of presenting on moodle). NOTE: Lifeline computer is a PC and not a Mac! If your presentation is made on a Mac, open it on a PC to make sure it works. You must also turn in your presentation, jump drive, CD, etc. during your lifeline one week before your group will present (Make sure the size of your file isn’t too large!)

4. Point Breakdown The presentation will be worth 10 points, with the possibility of 3 extra credit points for those that do an amazing and completely original job (Thus, a possible 13 total points!) Groups that fail to submit their presentations on moodle by the deadline will still be allowed to present, but will receive an automatic 3-point deduction from their grade. How you present the material is entirely up to you! Be creative (extra credit will be awarded for creativity)! The following slides will show an example of a standard PowerPoint presentation, followed by additional links for other presentation ideas.

6. Phospholipids Phospholipids make up most of the cell membrane. They are amphipathic, containing a hydrophilic polar head and hydrophobic non-polar tail.

7. Phospholipids Due to their amphipathic nature, phospholipids can form micelles in water. Micelles are spheres with the hydrophillic head of the phospholipid toward the outside and the hydrophobic tails towards the inside.

13. And finally, Do not limit yourself to these programs. Some other options include Google docs, wiki spaces, and pixton. You can make poster boards, puppet shows, and a mini skit. Your options are endless, so be creative!
