2
A landslide is when a chunk of earth falls down a steep slope it can be made of dirt, rocks or debris
3
Landslide can occur anywhere there is a slope and unsound land They tend to happen where there are frequent earthquakes, hurricanes, tsunamis, or even heavy raining
5
Landslide tend to happen when there is more rain. They don’t typicly happen in the winter due to the earth being frozen with frost (but that does not mean they cant happen)
6
Landslides affect many different thing as in… Buildings on or near the hill Gardens Houses The hill itself Any forest nearby
7
During a landslide there are some things that always happen The land tends to fold up first Then is starts to fall It can happen slowly or very fast There are 4 kinds of landslides Mudflow, slump, debris flow, and rockslide
9
The most extreme conditions would be… The whole side of the mountain collapses It moves faster than a car The width of it is bigger than 3 cars
10
Landslides have no official scale so they are measured by… How many metric tons fell How deep they are How far they traveled
11
Tsunamis (if it falls in a lake) The hill may be completely destroyed It will wipe out any forest nearby It could break a dam causing floods
12
a metric ton = 2204.62262 A tsunami is a giant wave Mudflow: a landslide made of mud Slump: when it all falls at once Debris flow: made of gravel, wood, or anything that’s not dirt or rock Rock fall: rocks falling at high speeds
