Montgomery Bus Boycott Created by: Jada Paskavich, Tavronika Hill, and Mai Lee Vang

Even after slavery ended the whites and blacks still did not get along. The whites did not want to give the blacks any rights. For example, in 1955 a black women named Rosa Parks didn’t have the right to keep her seat on a city bus. This caused the people of Montgomery to refuse to ride the bus for one whole year. This event was called the Montgomery Bus Boycott. Summary of Event

A bus driver told a black woman to give up her seat to a white man and then they called the police Rosa Parks – woman who refused to give up her seat on a city bus All of the black people and some white people in Montgomery, refused to use the city busses to show support for Rosa Parks

What was the Purpose? Blacks were mad that Rosa Parks was arrested To raise awareness that black people had to give up their seats To get equal rights for blacks

Black people could not sit in the front of the bus even if there were empty seats Many people supported the boycott and gave cheaper taxi rides and people with cars gave free rides Dr. King told his friends to act with love even towards the people who treated them badly Additional Facts
