A career in geography Jasmine Muir Remote Sensing Scientist, Department of Science, IT and Innovation Bachelor of Science (Ecology) Masters in Geographical Information Science Confirmed PhD Candidate at University of Queensland, Brisbane Australia
2
Why did I choose Geography? Includes lots of different disciplines Travel and spend time outdoors Contribute solutions to real world problems Research opportunities Work with cool tech toys
3
Remote Sensing Remote sensing analyses data from sensors not in contact with the objects they’re trying to measure. i.e. satellite images Light interact with what’s on the ground Biological, chemical and physical properties of the target control that interaction;
4
Remote Sensing Large areas Difficult to access Cost-effective Allows repeat monitoring
5
