2. What Does It Mean To Be A Christian?  Christians follow Jesus.  We follow Jesus wherever He leads.  Jesus is Lord – which has intrinsic value.  What do you call a Christian who doesn’t follow Jesus?

11. Disciples Are Called To Follow  Matthew 8:21-22 – Another of the disciples said to Him, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead.  Why does Jesus seem so harsh here?

12. Having Cross-Eyed Perception  Matthew 10:38 – “ And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.”  Matthew 16:24 -- Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.

13. Allow No Distractions  Matthew 19:21 -- Jesus said to him, “If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”  What on earth is keeping you from following Jesus?

15. Follow Jesus Into Service To Others  Where will Jesus lead us?  Cold dark mountains?  Siloam’s fountains?  The temple (sanctuary)  Home of the weak and lowly (shack)

16. Seeking The Sheep  Luke 15:4 -- “What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?  Jesus has a zero loss policy when it comes to His sheep!

17. Matthew 28:19  “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit…”  Seeking lost sheep is our primary commission.

18. …Helping The Weak  James 1:27 – “ Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.  Galatians 5:13 -- For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

19. Follow Jesus In Proclaiming  Matthew 4:23 – “Jesus was going throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.  Jesus proclaimed at every opportunity. So must we.

20. Proclaiming Because…  1 Peter 2:9-10 -- But you are A CHOSEN RACE, A royal PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, A PEOPLE FOR God’s OWN POSSESSION, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; for you once were NOT A PEOPLE, but now you are THE PEOPLE OF G OD ; you had NOT RECEIVED MERCY, but now you have RECEIVED MERCY.

21. God’s Gift Of Love Rejected  Colossians 1:28 – “We proclaim Him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ.”

22. Following Jesus Into Heaven  Matthew 6:20 – “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal…

23. Waiting Eagerly For His Return  Philippians 3:20 -- For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ….

24. Til We Walk With The Glad Immortals  2 Timothy 4:7-8 – I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing.
