What is COGO The Coalition of Geospatial Organizations (COGO) is an alliance of 16 national professional societies, trade associations, and membership organizations in the geospatial field, representing more than 30,000 individual producers and users of geospatial data and technology. www.cogo.pro

What is COGO Member Organizations: American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Association of American Geographers (AAG) Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CAGIS) Geospatial Information Technology Association (GITA) GIS Certification Institute (GISCI) International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors (MAPPS) National States Geographic Information Council (NSGIC) University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) Urban and Regional Information Systems Association (URISA) United States Geospatial intelligence Foundation (USGIF) Advisory Organizations: National Association of Counties (NACo) National Emergency Number Association (NENA) Western Governors Association (WGA) American Planning Association (APA)

COGO Operations Delegates are practitioners from each member organization COGO rules of operation require a unanimous vote for adoption of a policy position or action COGO has voted to conduct an NSDI Report Card
5
Modeled After ASCE Infrastructure Report Card
6
NSDI Framework Layers NSDI Framework Layers are (with lead responsible agency): – Geodetic Control -- National Geodetic Survey – Cadastral -- Bureau of Land Management – Orthoimagery -- U. S. Geological Survey – Elevation -- U. S. Geological Survey – Hydrography -- U. S. Geological Survey – Administrative Units -- U. S. Census Bureau – Transportation -- Department of Transportation
7
Why an NSDI Report Card? Did someone say, “you can’t manage what you can’t measure”? When developing a Stimulus proposal, it was discovered there are no progress metrics for the NSDI? Previous attempts to build support for and fund NSDI, ITFN, etc. have failed; a report card will help make the political case.
8
Report Card Grading Standards Currency Completeness (including interoperability & metadata) Scale/Resolution Accessibility
9
Next Steps COGO to select a panel of experts to evaluate the status and condition of the NSDI and develop a report card. Form a team of staff from COGO organizations to help manage the panel and design and implement a media/public relations campaign to promote the results.
