3 Senior Status College GPA based on grades earned in grades 10-11 Check transcripts for A-G deficiencies! Final grades of C or better for colleges! Colleges will not accept semester D’s Class rank is determined at end of Jr. year, available end of September Must keep strong profile in senior year Must report any D’s/F’s, drops at semester

4 Beyer A-G Course List  For students wishing to attend a four-year university, must meet required A-G courses for CSU/UC  Visual/performing art, 2 years for. lang, 3 years math, etc.  Check transcripts now!!  All semester grades C or better  All requirements met by end of senior year Refer to Beyer course list at: https://doorways.ucop.edu/list

35 Private For Profit Colleges  High tuition schools with highest share of students with debt  96% take out loans compared to 13% @ jc, 48% @ 4 yr. public, and 57% @ 4 yr. non-profit  Highest student loan default rate  Too many students do not get high quality training or do not graduate = no jobs, high debt  Under new rule, most for-profits in CA can no longer participate in Cal Grant program like non profit schools  Includes U of Phoenix, ITT Tech, Kaplan, SJVC, etc.

36 College Website Portals Once students apply to colleges, they will receive an email directing them to set up a “portal”. Do this immediately! This is where the college will send all information regarding admission, financial aid, housing, etc. It is important to check the portals daily and respond to requests immediately!
