9 Challenges Challenges of Teaching through Accountable Talk 9 Teachers are simultaneously responsible for: Making what is said clear and understandable with special attention paid to new and complex content Managing the conversation to maintain a logical flow among students with many different perspectives Maintaining student engagement and motivation, going beyond simply listening to inspire real interest and commitment to exploring ideas Ensuring equitable participation so that all students are heard Establishing an effective discourse-intensive classroom requires a serious commitment by the teacher!!!
