Interactive Poetry Instructions by Mary Booth

Placing Poems First select all of your poem from the Internet, right click and choose “Copy” Open a new document (Word, PowerPoint) Right click in a new document and choose “Paste”

Figurative Language First First you will need to know which Figurative Language is in your poem so you can make “Bulleted Headings” Then place the cursor underneath your poem in your document

Create Figurative Language Headings First, go to “Format Bullets and Numbering” on the Toolbar window Choose “Bullets and Numbering” Then, click on the “Outline Numbered” tab at the top of the new menu Choose the numbered headings and click “OK”

Use Literary Terms as Your Headings Repeat the Figurative Language Headings instructions until you have your required amounts of figurative language

Hyperlinking Lines Once you have your headings, you can link the lines of poems that are examples Highlight the line you want Then, go up to “Insert” – “Hyperlink”

Choose “Place in This Document,” and then choose the heading that you want. Click “OK.”

Inserting Comments Place the cursor at the end of a line, or at the place where you want to stop and explain Go to “Insert” on the Toolbar Choose “Comment”

Formatting When you are finished, you can also choose “Format” and then “Backgrounds” and add color for your presentation Choose “Format” and “Borders and Shading” for adding details for printing
