Poetry helps us to look at the world in a new way and describe it like no-one else. Think about a tree – Turn and Talk - tell your partner the words that pop into your head.

Place the following into your book: OrdinaryPoetic Green Tall Leaves Old Trees are as green as limes Majestic giants Their leaves are jewels Recording the history of time

Go on a personification walk –write down 5 things that you notice e.g. Cloud, trees, wind Choose one and make a list of at least 5 ways that the subject seems human or animal like For example trees – giant hands reaching towards the sky

Create your own definition of personification. Include related words and examples in your definition.
