Session 7 Integral and differential method
2
Integral method of analysis of data First order reversible reaction At equilibrium dC A /dt = 0
3
Integral method of analysis of data Reaction of shifting order Low C A High C A
4
Integral method of analysis of data Ex. In a batch reactor The composite of A in the reactor is measured at various times and shown in table, find the rate equation to represent the data
5
Integral method of analysis of data Guess first order reaction
6
Integral method of analysis of data Guess second order reaction
7
Integral method of analysis of data Guess nth order reaction We use the fractional life method with F=80%
8
Integral method of analysis of data For C A0 =10 and F=80%
9
Differential method of analyses of data The differential method of analysis deals directly with the differential rate equation to be tested.. The procedure is: 1. Plot the C A vs. t data, and then bye eye carefully draw a smooth curve to represent the data. 2. Determined the slope of this curve (dC A /dt = r A ) at suitably selected concentration value. 3. Search for a rate expression to represent this r A vs. C A data, either by: b- guess nth order rate equation a- guess rate form – r A = kf(C A )
