8 Dracula was on outcast. Connection to Speak? She was one of the first African American writers to be recognized using a black woman as a protagonist. She was silenced and unable to Speak. Connection? Maya Angelou Dracula

9 The Scarlett Letter  Melinda says she is wearing an “S” for shame, stupid, silent, which parallels the “A’ Hester Pyrnne was forced to wear  Connection?  Both characters are hiding something.  Both characters are being ostracized (shunned from society)

10 Pablo Picasso  Scared to tell the truth (he was married but had many mistresses)  Tries to express his feelings through art, but is scared the truth will come out.
