What is Allusion?? When authors refer to other great works, people, and events, it’s usually not accidental. These references are called allusions.

The Scarlett Letter Melinda says she is wearing an “S” for shame, stupid, silent, which parallels the “A’ Hester Pyrnne was forced to wear Connection? Both characters are hiding something. Both characters are being ostracized (shunned from society)
