3 Special thanks to Garber Methodist Church who loaned instruments for this evening’s performance.

4 Please make sure cell phones and pagers are turned off before we begin our show.

5 We want you to enjoy our whole show, so please do not leave the cafeteria until the show is over. All the children have worked hard and deserve our full attention. If you have an emergency or need to step out with your infant, please use the doors in the back.

6 Please supervise toddlers. We don’t want anyone to get lost or stepped on.

7 Thank you to all the staff and faculty who have been so helpful and supportive of the show tonight.

8 Thanks to Hilda Whitney, our librarian, who helped with the books and the show this evening.

9 Thanks to Marsha Rogers our Art Teacher who made the animal masks for the 2 nd graders.

15 Tonight’s show integrates ReadingMusic Reading and Music.

16 In addition to verbal and reading skills, this project also focuses on several Music skills: 1- demonstrate a steady beat 2- use the singing voice 3- perform rhythm patterns 4- identify and play pitched and unpitched instruments unpitched instruments 5- follow the cues of a conductor 6- improvise melodies and rhythms

19 Students of the arts learn to think creatively and to solve problems by imagining various solutions, rejecting outdated rules and assumptions. Questions about the arts do not have only one right answer.

21 A study of the arts provides children with an internal glimpse of other cultures and teaches them to be empathetic towards the people of these cultures. This development of compassion and empathy… provides a bridge across cultural chasms that leads to respect of other races at an early age.
