2. What is Chondrosarcoma?  Chondrosarcoma is a malignant neoplasm of cartilage cells. It invades the cartilage resulting in broken bones, horrific pain and could possibly enable you from using your limbs.

3. Symptoms of Chondrosarcoma  There are many symptoms that come along with this bone cancer.  Here are a few:  Sharp or dull pain where the tumor is located.  Swelling or redness at the tumor site  Large lump at the tumor site  Limping may occur or decrease use of the limb that has been affected.

4. Prevalence of Chondrosarcoma  There is an estimated population of people who have been affected to this type of bone cancer.  When if affects, 1 person per 2,000 people.

5. Causes/Transmitted  The causes of this disease is that it begins with a single abnormal cartilage cell that starts dividing out of control.  No one certain what prompts Chondrosarcoma, but most researchers have felt that it is a genetic abnormality or damaged chromosomes.

6. Treatments  Some treatments doctors use to try and cure this disorder is:  Bone cancer surgery which is when they remove the cancer without having to remove any limbs.  Radiation therapy which could be used after surgery to kill of any remaining cancer cells.

7. Treatments (Continued) BBone Cancer Chemo Radiation which is barely used, but may be used if the cancer has spread to any other parts of the body.

8. Interesting facts  If the cancer is caught before spreading, the patient has a 5 year survival rate of 90%.  25% or primary bone cancers are chondrosarcomas.  It can affect people and animals at any age.
