Native American Life before European Contact Native Americans shared cultural patterns. Trading Networks were Land use was sacred. Familiar religious beliefs. Similar social organization. Kinship, division of labor

Trading Networks Networks were a big factor in tribes interacting with one another. In what ways did food production differ among the Native American societies? Food production based on region.

Land Use Land use was totally sacred. Land was the source of life. It was altered as little as possible.

Religious Beliefs All Native Americans believed the that the natural world was filled with spiritual presences. All objects, living and nonliving, had a voice that could be heard if one listened enough. Spirits set guidelines that if followed ensured peace and prosperity.

Social Organization Organized through bonds of kinship. Strong ties among family members ensuring the continuation of tribal customs. Work was done through a division of labor. The assignment of different tasks by gender, age, or status.
