Curriculum development and skills demonstration development and development of students´feedback system Quality management was understood in a broad way, eg. Many development projects were understood as QM >>The principals are well aware of QM activities

Should be EFQM Risk management, crisis management is developed Internal Audits develop our activities Project results should be taken to practice I have not got a grip of quality management practices very well”

Results, principals What QM activities have you been involved in? a) Many (0 %) b) Quite many (33 %) c) Not many (67 %) d) No (0 %) Description of QM processes Curriculum development Quality development group member – not clear direction Internal audits

Results, principals What do you dislike concerning QM? What does QM development work include – making this clear for the staff Clear lines are missing We have perhaps too high goals, how to disseminate the system in the grassroot level Too much paper work Too large audits too often The connections between parts of the system should be made clear – how thing are connected to each other I like it

Results, principals What could be done in order to benefit more from QM activities, in your daily work in the future? Utilization of feedback system by all the staff – making all the systems functioning Concentrate in 1 or 2 domains in a period (half a year) Bringing quality work as part of every day work so that it does not sound like a course – bringing it to the grassroot level Develop better systems and dissemination of results Make the work done transparent. Teachers don´t read common part of the curriculum or quality system

Results, other staff What kinds of QM activities are you aware of? a) Knows many (0 %) b) Knows quite many (21 %) c) Knows few/little (14 %) d) Doesn´t know (64 %) Many projects were mentioned in the answers Organisation reform Quality management system development Student feedback system development Contents of teaching, quality of cooperation with stakeholders Development of e-learning I shall retire soon, it doesn`t concern me I don´t have very detailed picture of it I know only some projects of my unit I don´t know of any development measures I don´t know

Results, other staff Where and in how far are you profiting from QM activities at the moment? a) Well (0 %) b) Quite well (7 %) c) Little (29 %) d) Doesn´t know/profit (64 %) Because I have participated numerous national projects of my sector, I get much informaion Skiss demonstration development benefits all the parties Quality brings work I am not dealing with this. That is why I don´t benefit I guess I would benefit I if knew what is going I don´t know (2)

Results, other staff What QM activities have you been involved in? a) Many (0 %) b) Quite many (21 %) c) Not many (21 %) d) No (57 %) Several projects were mentioned Development of on-the-job learning Development of QM system Development of skill demonstrations Developmen t days of my unit Internal audits Only in personal level, in my own teaching My own work As far as I understand, no No

Results, other staff What do you dislike concerning QM? Quality development is hard work alone, little concrete support, lack of resources too Persons committed to quality development work are few It should be paid more Working part by part. Should be from whole Reports Much talk about quality, but little resources Stays often at celebration speech level Difficult to say, no experience Too many written rules, should be more practical guidance Informing I don´t know (2) Word quality work makes me ”angry” Everything that makes my work clearer benefits me

Results, other staff What could be done in order to benefit more from QM activities, in your daily work in the future? The leaders of the units should commit more in the quality work Units can be ask a concrete plan how they shall apply QM/ it should be monitored More resources Positive atmosphere to quality work – the appreciation of the management level Good results should result as more money Project results should be transferred to concrete practices Quaity chain must work – what is the customer? – What is the activity of highest priority? Difficult question. I shall think about it. Go on working together More lessons Quality will consist of details The figurative sentencies, I don´t understand them but I see many needs of development Information dissemination (3) Clear rules

Conclusions Management level is well aware of QM, teachers not Importance of QM system is not known as tool of development or management The system should be part of everyday work Internal audits may help in introducing QM system More resources for QM system is needed New administrative rules require that vocational colleges must have a quality system
