❖ Tired of going nowhere ❖ We wanted to do more for our kids ❖ We wanted to give the ownership of the learning to the kids ❖ Change the focus to the learning and not the teaching ❖ We were not performing well as a district ❖ Lower the turnover rate amongst teachers Why did we change?

How did we change? ❖ We developed a clear vision of why we are here. ❖ We committed ourselves to doing what we needed to do for the betterment of our students. ❖ We changed our focus from us and our teaching to students and how they learn.

How did we change? ❖ We obtained buy-in by building on teacher enthusiasm and developing shared leadership. ❖ We shifted our mentality from “these are my kids, my problems” to “these are our kids and how can we do this together?” ❖ Full administrative support ❖ Continual growth through PLC’s and professional development

What have we changed? ❖ Changed the master schedule ➢ Yes! This can be done! ❖ RTI ➢ Homework help, interventions, tutorial ❖ Committing to meeting together ➢ Friday mornings at 7:00am!! ❖ Shared Leadership ➢ Developed leadership team ❖ Book Studies ➢ Grading policies changed ❖ Celebration of Success

Veteran's Day Assembly - Promote good character and pride Celebration of Success - Recognize as many student achievements as possible beyond just academics Sharing with and learning from other schools Spending time together as a staff outside of meetings.

What has happened? ❖ Higher attendance ❖ Less discipline referrals ❖ Fewer Fs ❖ Accountability and higher expectations ❖ Family-like atmosphere between faculty and students ❖ Top 4 in Missouri K-12 schools according to APR
