2 SM&L TVET implementation School Management & Leadership (SM&L) is implemented in TVET by: National level: Workforce Development Authority ( WDA ) and Provincial level: Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centre ( IPRC ) in the Southern Province 17 pilots schools In collaboration with Belgian TVET Common Program (APEFE, BTC and VVOB).

3 TVET SM&L & CBT experimentation In the framework of the experimentation of the new Competence Based Training TVET program; A key component to increase quality in this implementation and to ensure accreditation of schools

4 TVET SM&L Scheme of intervention (2010-2015) WDA School Management and Training Unit IPRC/SIPRC/KicuIPRC/NIPRC/EIPRC/W 11 VTC/TSS pilot schools (PAFP) Pilot schools are being reinforced to become resource centres 6 SDP VTC/TSS Pilot schools

5 Peer-to-peer learning III From Mid 2014 – Extension to the entire Southern Province Each pilot school will coordonate peer-to-peer sessions with other schools in the surrounding area Le21/03/2012

6 Leadership actions 10 claims & 8 dimensions in Leadership: o Work on the 10 claims and eight dimensions of successful school leadership in terms of their applicability in their school context o make an action plan for the coming six months Le21/03/2012

7 Peer-to-peer learning One monthly working session with17 pilot schools: Each month, one thematic chosen by SM: Conflict Management Feedback & communication Motivating and Inspiring Others Decision making … Le21/03/2012

8 Peer-to-peer learning II Introduction to the thematic (practice & theory) Intervision method is used: o Each School Manager outlines an issue currently experiencedon the related thematic o One issue is selected o After having clarified this issue, each member of the group proposes one solution to the problem o The one who presented the problem, selects the best proposed solution Follow-up of the problem resolution each next session Sharing experiences and Lessons learned Le21/03/2012

9 Other achieved results in pilot schools We have also achieved these outcomes: 1.Setting up & capacity building of Management Committee 2.Elaboration & implementation of school development and strategic plan ; 3.Definition & implementation of staff capacity development plan ; 4.Development of school budget planning (+software) ; 5.Development of income generating projects (i.e. production and training units). 6.....

10 Challenges Few involvement of districts and sectors in the TVET implementation and in the support of Peer Learning implementation Lack of material and financial resources to sustain this peer learning dynamic Le21/03/2012
